About Access Counselling Lowestoft
I am a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor situated in Lowestoft. I offer high quality affordable counselling within the local community. My practice is easily accessible to surrounding areas such as Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold.
I offer open ended counselling and short term six session counselling.
The following pages will provide you with some information on the areas I may be able to help you with, as well as some information on my background and my approach to working with you.
I qualified as a counsellor 7 years ago and have nearly 800 hours clinical experience. I have a Certificate in Person Centred Counselling, a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling and a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I also have a Certificate for Psychodynamic Assessment & Time Limited Counselling.
I have experience working with adults and young adults aged from 16 upwards. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which means I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have my own private practice but also work for a charitable organization within the local community. I see individuals referred by GPs and the NHS for solution focused therapy which last for six sessions. I also work on an open ended basis, which means counselling can continue for longer periods, i.e. months or years depending upon the person’s needs. I have experience working within an educational setting offering counselling to students aged 16 plus.
To enhance my theoretical knowledge and as part of my on-going commitment to my professional development, I attend regular CPD’s (continued professional development seminars) which keep me informed and up to date with current thinking. I am currently studying for an Advanced Certificate in Psychodynamic Theory & Clinical Practice.
I was also involved with the organisation of a Spring Conference 2011, for a local charitable organisation - Mentalisation and the Neurology of Attachment - Viviane Green and Professor Jeremy Holmes.
I am trained to work with the bereaved, having been a Volunteer Bereavement Support Worker for Cruse, a national charitable organization for two years.
Before training to become a counsellor, I worked in a residential home for the elderly. I held the position of a Senior Carer and was responsible for the wellbeing of the resident’s which included adults with mental health issues and I am also experienced to work with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
