About Body Matters Health
Osteopathy is a hands on approach to healthcare recognizing the important link between the structures of your body and the way it works. Osteopaths focus on how your skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves and circulation work together to improve your health and well-being.
Established by Sarah Spencer Chapman in 1987, Body Matters Health is committed to providing the highest quality patient care.
As University trained allied health professionals, we specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of back, neck and joint pain, alongside more complex muscular and connective tissue problems.
My training, work experience and any achievement
Sarah Spencer Chapman has been an ocean sailor. Having lived, worked and survived a sinking off the coast of Africa, Sarah has a wealth of experience under her belt in treating people suffering trauma and stress. Motor cycling to Cape Town from Malawi was light relief in her twenties!
Having being a competitive athlete and studied dance and movement, Sarah is particularly interested in getting the body and mind moving to its optimum ability.
As a swimming coach encompassing water exercise and osteo-hydrotherapy. Sarah has explored the unique properties water has and brings to her treatment and rehabilitation the unique combination of Osteopathy in the water.
Bodymatters Health was initially established offering water therapy to patients referred from GP’s and Nurses in Salcombe. With an Ankylosing Spondylitis group, eating disorders, disabilities, and panic attack sufferers, Sarah wanted to know not only what these patients were suffering from, but why.
While working at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth Sarah studied dissection and worked as a medical rep specializing in the respiratory tract and trailed A&E consultants. Her aim was to gain experience as a diagnostic practitioner.
Sarah is a Master NLP Practitioner as well as an Osteopath. Studying acupuncture has enabled her to add to her diagnostic and treatment plans for patients.
While practicing in Harley Street and lecturing in Osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University Sarah has widened her skills and contacts.
Sarah treats animals as well. She has worked with Pirelli trained horses and riders.
Sarah has also broadcast as a volunteer on Hospital Radio and Radio BBC Gloucester as a back care and pain management specialist. She has worked in Kenya with Care Highway, a humanitarian medical organization, and on her return from Kibera (the slum in Nairobi home to some 2 million people with no infrastructure of sewerage, water or medical help.) They are supporting and following Sarah in the setting up of her Charity.
Sarah is back in the UK and would be delighted to diagnose and treat any problems you might have. Further Information
