WHAT I DO AND WHAT TO EXPECT
Homeopathy & Hypnotherapy please scroll down for hypnosis information.
Homeopathy is a safe, gentle, effective and non-toxic route to the restoration and enhancement of health. It is a holistic process of cure, where the person rather than the labelled disease condition is treated. Clients generally find that improvement is experienced on many levels, rather than exclusively with the presenting complaint.
My patients are newborns right up to the elderly and everything in between! At a consultation you will explore the important issues relating to your health, it should be a relaxing and enlightening experience. Many people seek help from homeopathy when they are going through a difficult patch either physically or emotionally. The confidential and supportive environment along with the remedy helps the patient regain perspective and balance. A first consultation for an adult will take at least an hour and a half, a child’s consultation an hour. Be prepared to be asked questions like what is your favourite food, what do you dream about, do you like to sit out in the sun, or are you happier in the shade? What are you frightened of, do you like to spend time alone? I will be building up a profile of you, and what makes you unique. The answers to these questions will help match your case to one of the several thousand remedies at our disposal. Homeopathy works on the principle of ’like cures like’. This means that a substance that would cause symptoms to appear in a healthy person when given in its raw state will cure those very same symptoms if the substance is transformed into a homeopathic medicine by the active ingredient being diluted in water. Think about what happens to your eyes and nose when you slice up a red onion, your nose will run and your eyes will stream. The remedy Allium Cepa is made from red onions; it stimulates the healing capacity of the body when suffering from a streaming cold or hay fever with those same symptoms.

HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnosis can be defined as an absorption in inner experience, which, together with appropriate suggestions, can facilitate helpful changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Hypnosis can also facilitate physiological change and has been shown to be effective in treating individuals with a variety of difficulties. These conditions include; Infertility, IVF preparation, Hypnosis for Childbirth, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), migraine, chronic pain, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxieties, fears and phobias and habit control e.g. weight loss and maintenance, stopping smoking and nail biting.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and no one can be hypnotised against his or her will. There is no magic to achieving success with hypnosis. Almost anyone who chooses too can reach a deep level of relaxation and redirected focus. In hypnosis you are not unconscious or asleep. You are in an altered state of awareness. More importantly, the hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind and one we enter involuntarily many times a day. It manifests itself in daydreaming, in that lovely warm relaxed state between sleep and wakefulness at least twice a day (for most people) How often have you driven a well known route and wondered when you arrived, just how you got there because you can’t remember the journey? Answer: your subconscious took over. There is no special feeling of being ’in hypnosis’, just a feeling of deep relaxation just like when you are staring into a fire and realise that you are being called and that you have been called for some time, but you only just realised that it is ’your’ name that you could hear…that is the state of hypnosis. Many people ask "Can I be hypnotised?" or say "I can’t be hypnotised", some out of uncertainty, some out of fear or distrust. You may well doubt that you can be hypnotised. Well, most people can be if they want to be - people can’t be hypnotised against their will any more than they can be made to do things that they really don’t want to do. Nor do people say things that they don’t want to say. The key is that you have to be willing to be hypnotised and agree to it.
After the initial information gathering of the first session you can expect to need to commit to 3 -6 sessions but for more chronic conditions a few more may be appropriate. To find out more, contact me so that I can give you an individual assessment of whether hypnotherapy is likely to be useful for you.
