About Dee Maddox-Hinton Counselling
Personal History and Current Employment DetailsExperience - I started counselling clients in 1998 and have worked in a variety of voluntary organisations including an incest survivor’s help group, rape and sexual abuse counselling and multiple births and baby loss issues. I have also gained training and experience working with self esteem development, self harm, understanding and improving depression, sexual orientation and preference, deaf awareness and diversity training; I also have some training in understanding and working with people with personality disorders.
Voluntary Unpaid Employment History
After completing the intensive training course I was a member of the team that staffed the help line of RASAC one night every three to four weeks and used to see clients two nights a week and attend supervision every two weeks. I worked with this organisation for about 4 Years.
I also participated in CIS’ters (Incest Survivors Self help group) events three to four times a year this included arranging and facilitating residential workshops for survivors of incest and training course for Counsellors, Medical Professionals and Social workers. I worked with this organisation for about 6 Years.
Past experience also includes counselling clients at Poole Maternity Hospital. The clients I saw had pregnancy and baby loss related issues. I worked with this team for 18 months leaving on my move back to Southampton.
Since 2001 I have been seeing private clients in therapy centres or in my home in a room set aside for this purpose.

Qualifications2001/2003 Diploma in Client- Centred Therapy.
2001/2003 ABC Diploma in Counselling.
2001 ABC Certificate in Counselling Skills
2006 Diploma in Supervision Casework.
2006 Certificate in Group Work
2006 Certificate in Counselling Trainee Counsellors
2009 BACP Accreditation (kept up to date)
In addition to the above I have undertaken short course in Mindfulness, Personality Disorders as part of my continual professional development.
I also hold qualifications in Reiki and Crystal Healing and i am a member of the Crystal Healing Federation
Membership - Full membership of British Association for Counsellor and Psychotherapy and Full Membership of British Association for the Person Centred Approach.
Code of Ethics - I adhere to the British Association for Counsellors Code of Ethics and Practice for Counsellors
Further Information
I have experience in working with couples, families and with groups. In exceptional circumstance ( for house bound or disabled Clients) I am willing to see clients in their own home subject to travel expenses. I also have experience in counselling sessions by phone.Age I Work With
