About Liz Down Counselling
I am an experienced person-centred counsellor based in Seaford. My approach is warm, non-judgemental and empathic. I offer short and long-term counselling to adults and young people experiencing a variety of issues. I also offer couples counselling. I offer telephone & skype counselling where this is a more manageable option.
Contacting me:
Accessing therapy can be a daunting prospect, there are many counselling approaches to choose between and telling your problems to someone new takes courage. I welcome telephone or email contact as an opportunity for you to ask me questions, have an informal chat and organise an initial introductory session. The initial session is a chance to begin getting to know each other and explore what you would like from counselling and whether my approach is right for you.
About the way I work:
I offer a welcoming, warm and accepting environment in which it is possible to explore problems and issues in an open, uncensored way. According to Carl Rogers, the founder of person-centred therapy, when a counsellor offers understanding and acceptance in a genuine and honest way and the client perceives this approach then positive, therapeutic change takes place. I have witnessed clients grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance through feeling deeply understood and warmly regarded in therapy.
I offer a confidential space in which, no matter what you say, you will not be judged or told how you should feel or behave. I tailor my approach to suit your needs and requirements. Integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused approaches where you wish to work in a more goal-oriented way. I will work with you collaboratively to explore the connections between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and uncover solutions to problems and coping strategies that feel right for you.
