About Helene Clarke

I am an experienced and warm counsellor and care deeply about what I do. You may be depressed, anxious, stressed, angry or have relationship problems or work-related difficulties. I will listen to you with empathy and without judgement so that can I see your world through your eyes and so that you feel heard. If your thoughts and feelings are confusing, conflicted or unclear, I will work with you collaboratively to unravel and make sense of them.

I approach my work with hope and optimism and will work alongside you to explore and understand the roots of your difficulties so that you can gain new perspectives on them. A greater understanding of yourself can give you the freedom and autonomy to make positive and lasting changes in your life.

I work on a one-to-one basis with adults aged 18 years and above. Sessions can be open-ended or time-limited and can be held face to face, online or over the telephone.

It is important that you feel comfortable and safe and trust your gut when deciding which therapist to choose. This is why I offer a free initial consultation so that you can experience how it might feel to work with me.

My training, work experience and any achievement

- I have completed a rigorous five-year BACP accredited training and hold Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
- I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and abide by its Code of Ethics and professional standards.
- I have an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and hold full Professional Indemnity Insurance.
- As well as running my private practice, I provide counselling and therapy to individuals from different walks of life and backgrounds and with a wide range of issues at two different Counselling centres.
- In the past, I worked for many years as a volunteer for the charity Family Lives, where I supported individuals struggling with different aspects of parenting and family life.
- A previous career in training and organisational development (in banking and the legal profession) and an MA in Human Resources Management has given me a good understanding of work-related issues and stress.
