About Elizabeth Shorts
The Intergrative approach, works with several theories, including Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Solution Focused (short term). This will give a flavour of how one can design therapy for for each client and their situation.Working as a fully qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor, Integrative therapy allows me to create therapy for the unique individuals that we are, enabling clients to experience customised therapy, thus meeting each of their needs by using one or more theories. I work with couples, individuals and young people. My aim is to give the tools, so that clients may continue in their growth once therapy has finished. I offer a warm and and responsive environment where one will not be judged.
My training, work experience and any achievement
Qualifications & TrainingBSc Honours Psychology. Dip Counselling. MBACP. Continuing courses in CBT, Psychodyamic, Person-Centered, Gestalt, Solution Focused therapies and Art therapies.
Experience
I have gained my experience thorough 12 years of working with local community services, currently working with vulnerable young people in Barnet. Along side this I have run my own private practice for 11 years.
I began my training to become a fully qualified counsellor in 1995 starting with a Honours Degree in Psychology. I then went on to study Integrative Psychotherapy at the prestigious Metanoia School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, I then started to practice for their Psychotherapy service. Then completing four years. I then concluded with my full qualification in Counselling in 2004. I am a full member of the BACP.
My considerable experience includes working couples, individuals and young people with relationship problems, stress, anger, depression, anxiety, drug abuse, issues with sexuality, self-harm, low-self esteem, negative thoughts, weight issues, phobias and so on.
