About Carolyn Bryant - Counselling Services
My aim is to provide a supportive counselling service to help you in times of difficulty, stress or confusion. I welcome any individual who might want to work on a range of issues and offer an experience tailored to meet your individual needs. The therapeutic service I offer is flexible and you can attend for as few or as many sessions as are helpful to you to express feelings, work through problems and issues, explore worries and anxieties and gain insight. Counselling can be a helpful way to clarify thoughts and feelings and enable decisions to be made.
Sessions normally last for 50 minutes and are held in my private counselling room. My aim is to to help you live your life more resourcefully with greater satisfaction, peace and happiness.
Everyone has times in their lives when they may become overwhelmed by events and this often happens at times of change or loss. No matter how trivial or complex your difficulty may seem, I would be pleased to work with you to disentangle the layers of confusion and empower you to move on in a more positive way.
My training, work experience and any achievement
Over the past 22 years I have developed an effective style of work place counselling involving time-limited therapy to employees bring a wide range of issues including critical incidents. I have been in private practice for 15 years offering both short and long term counselling/psychotherapy to individuals and until recently provided a service for seven years in Primary Care.
My studies at the University of Southampton led to my graduation with the degree of Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours. My integrative approach based on a relationship model pays attention to the quality and development of the relationship between the client and myself. I draw upon a range of models to benefit the individual with an empathic emphasis including Psychodynamic Principles, Rogerian Core Conditions and the Person Centred Approach and include CBT, Gestalt experiments and Solution Focused techniques where appropriate.
I am committed to ongoing Professional Development as indicated by my BACP Senior Accredited Status and I am registered on the BACP Voluntary Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists. I follow the guidelines of the Ethical Framework for Good Practice of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and am subject to its complaints procedure.
Alongside counselling, I have taken on the role of part-time lecturer at Eastleigh College teaching counselling skills to students for the past nine years. Since 2009 I have managed the level two and three counselling skills programmes and been involved in developing new courses, etc. I have also significant experience working with children of all ages both in schools and family environments.
I am a qualified supervisor and provide supervision to both students and experienced counsellors. Further Information
My counselling premises are situated in an easily accessed, lovely, rural Essex village with flat access and onsite parking. I’m centrally located between Bishop’s Stortford and Dunmow just off the B1256 road. Sessions are normally for 50 minutes and are for individuals including adults and/or young people. Appointments can be made at various times between Monday to Friday at times to suit your circumstances.
The initial assessment session provides an opportunity for you to explore what brings you to counselling, what you’re expecting, whether to continue, what you want to achieve, how many sessions, etc. I offer regular reviews to help establish progress and assess how many more sessions you need, when to end, etc.
If you would like to meet me before making any commitment then please come along for a free 15 minute introductory session to ask questions and see me and my designated counselling room.
