Benefits of Psychotherapy and Counselling
Psychotherapy and counselling are talking therapies. Whereas counselling is often used to help you cope with recent events such as loss or stress, psychotherapy is more in-depth work exploring deeper psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, addictions or compulsive behaviour, Psychotherapy explores problems and identifies solutions. Successful psychotherapy results in symptoms fading, clearer perspective, feeling more positive, more energetic and more resourceful. You will find tools which will help you continue your progress outside and beyond therapy
Relationship difficulties
During the course of a day, we intact with many people in many types of relationship. Some relationships can be difficult and cause us distress. In therapy, people may want to investigate problems such as jealousy, communication problems, conflict resolution, anger problems, identity and role conflict, dependence vs. independence, values, parenting, money and finances, addictions etc.
Psychotherapy helps to develop a deeper understanding of interpersonal dynamics. When we understand how we behave in relationships, the quality of our relationships can improve.
Couples Counselling
As a Couples Counsellor, I work with couples to address their specific needs. Often couples fear their relationship is failing. Sometimes they have stopped talking meaningfully, or they are facing a specific crisis. Some couples want to improve intimacy and communication, some want help to bring their relationship to a close, while others are looking for pre-marital counselling, wanting to sort out issues before making a marriage commitment. Couples come to therapy context because they believe the assistance of a professional, impartial, non-judgemental person will help them to do something about issues which may be difficult to tackle on their own.
