About Carole Grace
Qualifications and the length and breadth of experience will be important for you so that you can trust your therapist with your difficulties. I have practised as a counsellor and psychotherapist for 28 years. My training has been in three different types of therapy as I think it is important that I have different ways of working with individuals which suit them personally. I also lecture in counselling so that I can keep up-to-date with the latest best practice. I am UKCP registered as well as BACP accredited supervisor and Senior Practitioner. I abide by their Code of Ethics and codes of practice.
I work with individuals, couples and run groups, both long and short term. I work with a broad range of people coming from different cultural backgrounds who may have long-term problems such as depression and anxiety or short-term work related difficulties.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have a Masters in psychotherapy as well as 3 Advanced Diplomas in Psychodrama, Gestalt and Existential Therapy. I also have been trained in CBT, mindfulness and person centred counselling. I have a broad experience of working with people with serious mental health issues with the National Schizophrenia Fellowship helping to get people back into work to short term work for Employment Assistance schemes. I have worked with refugees both in this country and abroad. I have worked in private practice for 25 years.
I supervise work in college and have taught and trained at all levels in psychotherapy.
I have been a chair of one of the divisions of BACP and am a member of the Ethics committee of UKCP.
Other concerns & issues I deal with
It is important to recognise the unique quality of everyone so I work with individuals using the theory that suits them best. CBT might be best for someone suffering from phobias; whereas a person who felt that life had become meaningless will suit a more philosophical approach. Some people feel the need to sit and talk about their difficulties whereas another finds it better to use a creative form of therapy. I do like to tailor my responses to the needs of the client. I am experienced in working with:
People suffering from depression or anxiety.
Couples having relationship problems
Individuals having difficulties with all kind of relationships
People suffering from shyness
Work related problems
Decision making
Spiritual crisis
Creative blocks.
