Abuse, Trauma, Insomnia, Relationship issues, Depression, Bipolar, Anxiety, Panic attack, Low self esteem, Lack of confidence, Identity issues, Social fear, Body image, Stress, Work place conflicts, Self harm, Eating disorder, Chronic fatigue syndrome, Domestic violence, Adjustment to change and Mental Health well being in general.
How I Work...
I offer Counselling to Adults, Adolescents and Couples on a short term as well as long term basis.
I practice as an Integrative therapist which incorporate Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also work with couples.
Humanistic Therapy (Person Centered and Existential)
Humanistic Therapies focus on self-development, growth and responsibilities. I seek to help individuals recognize their own strengths, creativity and choice in the ’here and now’. Within the Person Centered framework, ’every individual has within themselves resources to grow and develop if the right environments are provided’. The Person Centered Therapy is non-directive and non-judgmental which provides you with that environment to be the person you are, whereas the Existential Therapy seeks to emphasis on exploration of a particular situation to clarify your values and priorities.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
We examine the role of your thoughts (cognition) on your negative emotions and behaviour. In becoming more aware of your thinking patterns, we can begin to elicit which are more and less positive and begin to replace the less positive ones with thoughts that are empowering and help you to move towards positive change.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Rather than focusing on your problems and their routes, we look at the ways and techniques to your problem. By exploring what is going on ’here and now’ concerning your experiences, you can begin to become aware of what factors in life are contributing to the problem and the solution to it, and therefore you can begin to increase your understanding of how to apply appropriate solutions to the problem in a given time. Usually SFBT is for between 4 to 8 sessions.
Couples
If you have a relationship problem or are experiencing difficulties in your marriage and when both of you agree to see a counsellor, sometimes it is best to tackle it before it is too late. Counselling will give you a neutral and safe space where feelings may be openly expressed and heard.
