My training, work experience and any achievement
I am a qualified humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist. I have a practice in Canterbury and Minnis Bay, Kent.
As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to a strict code of ethics ensuring good practise and I am therefore subject to their professional conduct procedure.
I trained on a BACP accredited course. This course included Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt models of counselling.
I am bilingual in French and have lived in various countries enabling me to experience many cultures and ways of being.
I first started working in a counselling role as a volunteer visiting the elderly and went on to use my bi-lingual skills visiting detainees in a detention centre. I then joined a bereavement agency and have been with them since 2012. This involves seeing clients on a short term basis with bereavement related issues which can include suicide, addictions and relationship issues.
I have also worked as a counsellor at the University of Kent. I worked with teenagers as well as young adults. Although I do not work with children or young adolescents in my private practice, my work at the University lends itself to a good understanding when working with young adults as well as parents and carers who are experiencing difficulties.

I hold a current DBS (Home office Disclosure and Barring Service’s criminal records enhanced Disclosure). This used to be known as a CRB. Further Information
What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Counselling and Psychotherapy provide a safe and confidential space for you to be able to talk to an experienced counsellor about the things which are troubling you. This could be a general feeling of unhappiness, past events still affecting you today, a negative pattern of behaviour or something that feels too personal to share. There are many reasons for seeking the help of a counsellor.
To be able to achieve the above, it is important for you to feel at ease with your counsellor as you will be working together towards your own personal goals. I aim to offer a sensitive and trustworthy therapeutic relationship with my clients as I strongly believe that this is at the heart of successful therapy.
I provide both short term therapy known as Counselling or long term therapy known as Psychotherapy. Frequent reviews are made during therapy to ensure that the therapeutic work undertaken is meeting your needs.
I believe each client is unique and has the inner resources to make any changes that may be necessary in their lives. My approach is that we work together to enable you to discover how to go about making those changes.
