I see Counselling & Psychotherapy as a human condition, in that people have always had a need to seek out other people to talk through their problems.
I offer a warm, inviting space for you to explore the difficult issues you are facing. We can do this in my virtual online room during this Covid19 pandemic, and thereafter if this suits you. Once we return to ’normal’ I offer a peaceful, safe space in my garden office in Overton.

I see counselling as a process that can help you to change the way you see the world around you and your place in it. I aim to help you to understand yourself more deeply, to perhaps recognise patterns of behaviour that are maybe unhelpful to yourself by providing you with a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to work through the issues you are facing.

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and Accredited Member of BACP. I work online or from my home in Overton where my room overlooks our garden which is private and secluded.  By car Basingstoke, Winchester and Newbury are around 20 mins away. My home is situated next to the railway station with easy links to Andover, Salisbury and Basingstoke. The villages of Oakley, Whitchurch, Micheldever and Kingsclere are all within 10 mins drive.

I have worked for many years with young people as a youth worker and latterly a counsellor. The issues I have supported my clients through are many and varied, my aim is to provide a safe space for my clients to explore what is important for them.

I have specific experience working with clients, including children, who have experienced trauma in their lives.

At the beginning of our work I aim to create a clear contract with clear aims between us, so we both know what we are aiming to achieve together. My work is informed by Transactional Analysis, and if you wish, I can use some of the theories to help explain your feelings, experiences etc. However in my experience often people don’t want theories, they just need to be heard, to be listened to in a warm, safe space.

My training, work experience and any achievement

I have developed a busy private counselling practice which I run from my home where I work with adults as well as young people and teenage clients. My room overlooks our garden and is peaceful, secluded and secure.

I am also offering on-line sessions at the moment.

I have always enjoyed working with people, prior to starting my counselling training I have worked as a Disability Employment Advisor within the local Jobcentre, helping people with disabilities into and retain employment. I have also been a Youth Worker for over 25 years, I managed Detached Youth Work teams across Basingstoke and surrounding villages and delivered training to youth workers across the country.

Following redundancy from the job I loved, youth work, I have been so fortunate to find another career I love, counselling. I have gained experience counselling adults in GP Surgery’s in Southampton and for Andover MIND. My youth counselling experience has been with Sparsholt College, I also set up and ran for two years Andover Youth Counselling Project, and continue to supervise their current counselling staff. I also have experience working as a Frankie Worker for Hampshire County Council.

Clinical Supervision
