Counselling & Psychotherapy
FREE 30 MINUTE INITIAL CONSULTATION
Many people experience feelings of distress regarding issues in their life such as depression, anxiety, separation/divorce, family/relationship problems, anger, domestic abuse/violence, and bereavement/miscarriage.
Counselling can help. It is confidential and non-judgemental and I can provide a safe space in which you can explore your feelings, overcome your difficulties and improve the quality of your life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) challenges thoughts, feelings and behaviours and is recognised by the NHS as effective therapy. It can be a cost effective, solution-focussed, short term therapy by which you can achieve results very quickly, usually in 6 to 12 sessions.
I will discuss with you what you want to achieve from therapy and work with you to achieve your aims, whether that involves CBT or a Psychotherapeutic Approach which may take longer to explore more deep rooted issues from childhood or adulthood. Whatever your aims, we will discuss your needs as therapy progresses or issues arise and you are free to leave the process at any time.
My training, work experience and any achievement
My name is Tracey Perfect and I have a BSc Psychology (Hons) and a Certificate in Counselling from Thames Gateway NHS Trust.
I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and was also granted the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership.
I have experience of counselling within an NHS setting where clients were referred to me through their GP.
I also have a background in research psychology. My university dissertation was a qualitative analysis of issues around Fatherhood. I worked as a Research Assistant in the Psychology Department of a university and then went on to work for an NHS Primary Care Research Team for more than 5 years which resulted in the publication of a qualitative research article published in the peer-reviewed medical journal Family Practice (Vol 22, Issue 6, Dec 2005).
I have experience of working with a stroke survivor and can offer support to this client group. My client suffered from Aphasia which affected his cognitive and language skills. We worked together to improve his outcome and also successfully worked towards him being able to drive again. I used a method validated by Nottingham University and a driving assessment carried out at an approved driving assessment centre. Further Information
Please feel free to contact me with no obligation. I have some daytime appointments available and also limited evening and weekend appointments.
