About Tom Kennedy
Tom is a fully qualified member of the British Acupuncture Council, and practices acupuncture in Bristol. He runs a private acupuncture practice from the Natural Health Clinic (Cotham Hill, Bristol), as well as a low-cost clinc from the same venue.Tom began training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in 2004, embarking on a 3 year full-time degree course at the University of Westminster. During his training, he treated people with various conditions in the University of Westminster Polyclinic, and the NHS Gateway clinic in Clapham.
He now enjoys treating a wide variety of patients and conditions, and regularly attends advanced training courses. These have included tuina (Chinese massage); acupuncture for pregnancy and childbirth; auricular (ear) acupuncture; traditional pulse diagnosis; treating physical pain; and scalp acupuncture for neurological conditions.
Tom and his wife Kate Simants also produce videos and multi-media projects, mainly relating to acupuncture. An example is the popular Manual of Acupuncture Multimedia DVD-ROM, a training aid for acupuncture students.
My training, work experience and any achievement
BSc (hons) TCM Acupuncture, Westminster University - Member of British Acupuncture Council - further training in treating pregnancy conditions (as well as routine pre-birth acupuncture), various painful conditions, pulse diagnosis, scalp acupuncture, and ear acupuncture.Tom has also worked directly with some of the biggest names in acupuncture - including Peter Deadman, Debra Betts and Julian Scott - to make educational DVDs and software for acupuncturists and the general public. Most recently, Tom worked with Debra Betts to produce a DVD demonstrating acupressure pain relief techniques for labour (www.jcm.co.uk/acupressure)
Tom enjoys treating a wide range of conditions, but has a special interest in pain and sports injuries, and problems encountered during pregnancy.
