Yoga May Aid Asthma Sufferers, New Study Finds
Suffering from asthma? You might want to consider doing yoga. According to new research, asthma may ease symptoms of asthma and improves quality of life. Not only that. Yoga also calms the mind may cut the odds of asthma attacks, as well as reduce anxiety and improve mood.
Asthma is a common respiratory disorder which affects 5.5 million people in the UK, according to the report published in Daily Mail. Every year, some 200 people are admitted to the hospital due to asthma attacks and around 1,000 people die of it each year. The most common treatment for asthma is medications.
The study, carried out by researchers from Chinese University of Hong Kong involved more than 1,000 men and women with mild and moderate asthma. Findings revealed that yoga may improve quality of life and symptoms of people suffering from asthma.
However, the researchers note that most of the studies analysed were flawed and it is unclear if yoga cuts the need for medication. They were also unable to determine if it triggers any serious side-effects.
Nonetheless, yoga remains to be one of the most popular therapies that have been shown to be beneficial for people dealing with a wide range of health problems, including back pain and arthritis.
