Weight Loss Foods that Take Minutes to Prepare
Think that eating healthy takes time and effort? Not really. Whilst a lot of people can keep up with regular exercise, not everyone is able to stick to a healthy, well-balanced diet. And the reasons why include the cost, skills and time needed to prep good food.
But the truth is preparing healthy foods is not that time-consuming or expensive. Whilst their cost could be a little bit higher at times, you can really get a good deal if you are going to get your whole foods straight from the local supermarket. What’s more, you can be sure you are getting fresh produce, not the frozen ones available in grocery stores.
Also, preparing foods that promote health and weight loss is a lot of time easier. If course you can try some complicated dishes from time to time, like expert diet chefs do, and make use of very rare healthy ingredients. But for most days, you can still eat healthy without having to exert so much effort.
Below are some healthy foods you can try that just take minutes to prepare.
Smoothies
Making smoothies is a simple way to boost your vegetable intake. Simply toss different kinds of veggies and fruits, plus some herbs, and process them in a blender or juicer. And there you go – you have a powerful, nutrient-rich drink to enjoy, for just a hundred or more calories. There are so many smoothie recipes to try, and you can also experiment on your own combination. By making a smoothie, you no longer have to care about cooking.
Cruciferous Salad
Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, spinach, cabbage and Brussels sprouts are considered weight loss foods because they are packed with nutrients whilst being low in calories. You simply have to combine them all together, put some pepper and a little salt, some lemon juice, and olive oil. You get a wonderful dish that is so, so good for your belly.
Greek Yoghurt
Pump up the good bacteria in your stomach by snacking on protein-rich, low-calorie plain Greek yoghurt. There’s no hassle involved. Simply take off the cover and enjoy the creamy snack. Bored with its plain taste and texture? Add some chopped nuts. It won’t take you more than two minutes. Fresh or frozen berries are also a good addition to this lovely, weight loss-promoting food. Yoghurt is very filling too. So you are less likely to overeat during the day.
Cottage Cheese
Like yoghurt, cottage cheese is a very filling snack. What’s more, it has more protein than yoghurt, which makes it a perfect snack if you’re into a tough workout programme. Add strawberries or blueberries to it and you will have a flavourful, very healthy meal.
Steamed Vegie
Steaming vegetables is another good way to preserve their nutrients if you are not really fond of eating raw foods. Just make a flavourful sauce of your choice and you can enjoy a cup or two of steamed broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and many other veggies.
Egg and Egg White
Eggs are a valuable source of complete protein. And you know the best thing about them? They are a no-brainer food to prepare. You can make a simple sunny side up using one whole egg plus one egg white. Use olive oil and pepper instead of salt. Yum. You can even scramble the eggs. Toss in some tomatoes and chopped onions for more flavour and texture.
So don’t think eating healthy is difficult. There are simple, easy-to-prepare nutritious foods that will help keep your health and weight on track.
