Ways to Spice Up and Add Flavour to Your Workouts

No matter how fun and challenging a workout was when you first tried it, it can get less enjoyable if you do it every day, without making tweaks or trying out something new in between. And when you get bored, you are more likely to quit exercising and go back to your unhealthy lifestyle. So before that happens, consider these tips to add more fun and challenge to your daily workout session.

Do more.

Stuck to 8-10 repetitions for each core exercise? Increase it to 16 or more if you can. Not only will it help you shed some pounds faster, you can also enhance your endurance and muscle strength while making your workout more challenging.

Intensify.

Been doing aerobics lately? Why not try HIIT? This super challenging type of exercise is less time-consuming than regular workouts but can really push your body to the limits! Yes, you may get more fatigued and may not have enough strength to perform additional weight lifting exercises or core workouts, but you will break a sweat and be working harder than usual. There’s also that rewarding feeling after completing a HIIT session you never thought you can do.

Slow down.

If you’re getting too much of intense workouts, instead of being energetic, you will feel more tired and demotivated to continue working out. So make sure to observe balance in your physical activities. Don’t attempt to do full HIIT sessions seven times a week! Opt for 3-4 times a week in alternating days, and in between, try something that’s less intense, such as brisk walking. It’s also a great chance to go out, unwind and breathe in fresh air.

Get a workout buddy.

Having a workout partner is a great way to push yourself a bit harder. It also makes exercising really fun and less physically draining. You may also be able to learn a thing or your workout buddy while he or she learns from you too.

Join a group workout.

Even if you prefer exercising solo at home, from time to time, allow yourself to exercise with other people. Go to the nearest gym and inquire about their group fitness schedule and pick a class that sounds interesting to you.

Get a new playlist.

You may have a list of your favourite workout tracks, but if they’re the only songs you hear every time you break a sweat, sooner or later they won’t sound pleasing to your ears anymore. So download some new music and add it to your workout playlist.

Get involve in a new sport.

Who says exercising is limited to lifting dumbbells or running a mile or two on the treadmill? There are many other forms of exercise and they include sports activities. Learn a new sport, such as swimming or cycling. Have you tried joining a marathon race? How about triathlon?
