Top 7 Signs Your Health Has Gotten Poorer
Health is wealth, as the cliché goes. But sadly, most people don’t act on their health until they have already had a stroke, developed a certain form of cancer, or has been diagnosed with diabetes. Just because you aren’t feeling anything wrong, or you haven’t got a fever or flu for several months now doesn’t mean you are very healthy. Most health damage begins inside our body and they often have no symptoms until the disease has already spread or has gotten severe.
Fortunately, our body gives warning signs before we even get sick. You shouldn’t ignore these signs. If you any of these is happening to you, make sure to act promptly. You don’t want to wait until it’s too late.
You always complain about having a bad sleep.
At night, the stress hormone ‘cortisol’ in your body is supposed to go down to the minimum levels, which allows your system to have a good rest and recharge. But if you are always having issues with sleep, it means that your stress level hasn’t gone down as expected. This can result from too much stress, which is known to be a ‘silent killer’. When your body is always under stress, its ability to self-heal declines, which weakens your immunity over time.
You’re always anxious.
You might think that it’s all in the mind, but too much anxiety can have severe effects on your physical health. While stress and too much worries fuel anxiety, other biological factors can be blamed as well, such as sex hormone imbalances, adrenal tumours and thyroid problems.
You’ve gotten bigger.
Being overweight is a common indication of poor health. Obese people are at a high risk of developing chronic health problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, and some forms of cancer. Also, where your weight is could matter. If you have an ‘apple’ figure, you could be at a greater risk than if you have a ‘pear-like’ body shape.
You catch colds too often.
Everyone is exposed to bacteria and viruses on a daily basis. But people who have a strong immune system are able to resist the effects of these pathogens. If you catch cold more than anybody else, you could be having poor immunity. It’s also a sign that you are deficient in certain nutrients.
You have a lot of digestive issues.
Digestive discomfort is another common sign of poor health and nutrient deficiency, particularly fibre which doesn’t just play a role in enhancing metabolism but also in improving heart health. Lack of fibre could cause digestive issues like constipation and diarrhoea.
Poor wound healing.
Has your wound not improved over the weeks? It could mean that your body is not receiving a sufficient level of essential nutrients. Poor diet has an impact on wound healing and recovery, and in how your body fights infection that could originate from the wound.
Feelings of fatigue
Fatigue symptoms are normal after a hard day at work or a strenuous physical activity. But it shouldn’t be a daily problem of yours. Low energy is a huge indication of poor diet as well as vitamin insufficiency.
Poor oral health
Your teeth, tongue and entire oral health can tell a lot about the quality of your health. Bleeding gums, tooth loss, mouth pain, and dental caries are all manifestations of an even more serious health issue.
It is important that you check with your GP on a regular basis for a general check-up and consultation. Also, it is expedient that you observe a healthier diet and physical activity. This way, you can correct health problems as they occur, and prevent new ones from developing. Your health is really a wealth you should treasure by taking good care of your body.
