Confidence is something that many people struggle with. Most of us tend to belittle out own abilities and spend so much time caring about what others think. And if you think those medals, plaques and recognitions can bolster your confidence, you are wrong. Research has shown that ironically, self-esteem is at its lowest when we’ve had very low or high achievements. What’s more, self-esteem is subjective and can be shifted by changing how we think.

If you are running low in self-esteem right now, don’t worry. We’ve got some really great tips for you that can help you power up your self-esteem and confidence. Here they are:

Train.

You’ve probably seen a lot of ‘before and after’ photos online and stories about how 14-stone man has managed to get in a leaner physique in just three months. Training is good for you. And it’s not only because it makes you look good. The most important thing is that it makes you feel good! Beyond the obvious benefits, training greatly improves your mental health, which has a direct impact on your confidence level and self-esteem. What’s more, physical exercise boosts your memory, attention and decision-making skills.

Learn a new language.

Being bilingual is really cool. Being able to speak in another language and comprehend people from a different place and culture really feels great. But learning a new language is not a walk in the park. And that’s probably one of the reasons why it makes you feel more confident after. Research has also provided evidence on the mental health benefits of being bilingual. And apart from exercising your brain, knowing a different language helps you build strong relationships within more than one community. This allows you to be more confident in establishing connections with other people.

Develop the growth mindset.

Most people have fixed mindsets. They seek success as affirmation for their intelligence. But a fixed mindset has a downside. When failure comes, it makes it so difficult for a person to get up and bounce back. If you’re after a higher confidence level, you’ve got to develop the growth mindset. This one’s thrives on challenges and sees failures as a catalyst for growth. Instead of feeling discouraged, a person with the growth mindset becomes more determined to do better and win.

Meditate.

Meditation is an ancient practice that restores our peace of mind, makes us fight negative emotions, and strengthens our self-esteem. It also reduces our stress levels, help us make better decisions, and boost our overall mental health!
