The Wonders of Meditation

Meditation techniques and Mindfulness Exercises can be extremely beneficial in helping people with stress relief. My name is Edgar Danmer, I am a Life Coach and I have been practicing meditation for the last 17 years. I have studied with various teachers of spirituality, religion and philosophy. I believe that we all experience stress in many ways, but I think few people realise that there are meditation techniques that can use to help decrease stress in very simple steps.

When I notice that I am getting stressed I realise that it is time to take time out for stress relief. As I have a tool box of mindfulness exercises, and meditation techniques, the first thing I begin with is finding a comfortable place where I will not be distracted, and get into a comfortable, up right sitting posture, to focus on my breathing, in a gentle and lighted hearted manner.

You do not have to be a Buddhist to pause and pay attention to your breathing. Neither do you need to believe in God. I notice stress as a sensation of hot flushes on my face or my talking about a situation is very negative. Please notice that I do not judge myself or others for experiencing stress. What I am acknowledging is there are mindfulness exercises that you can practice that can help you with stress relief. Watching ones breathing is one of the simplest meditation techniques. It simply requires that you slow down and not fight the thoughts that might be swirling around a particular person or situation, but place your attention or awareness on the movement of your breathing process.

You can take a quick 30 second pause right now and practice one of my favourite meditation techniques: Watch the movement of your breathing as you sit in your chair in front of your computer and lap top. From time to time your attention will revert back to the issue that is causing you to feel stress. But you will also notice there are moments when your awareness is simply in the here now, watching your breathing. The truth is we can only watch the breath in the here now when we are present, never in the past or the future.

There are other really simple mindfulness exercises that you can practice for stress relief and some are more fun than just watching your breathing. Listening to soothing and relaxing music can really help in decreasing stress. If you have the time in the morning or evening listen to some calm music for 30 minutes. I have listened to Bach for 60 minutes and felt fantastic after it finished. Listening to this type of music everyday could be your meditation practice.

The point that I am wishing to share with you is that we cannot bury stress and beat ourselves up about experiencing it. I notice that more often than not, I need to get clear about a person or situation when I am experiencing stress. The solutions to the issue arise when I access my inner clarity. It’s difficult to arrive at wise decisions when you seeing them through the veil of stress.

This is why I offer clients Clarity Hour Coaching. My belief is that we get stressed because we are not 100% clear about how we stand with a person or situation and the experience is not allowing us to feel empowered. I believe that Clarity is kryptonite to stress. If you are noticing that there is a situation or person that you feel is causing you stress, then I invite you to have a 15 minute free consultation to find out if my Clarity Hour Coaching might be of benefit to you in resolving this matter so that your mind can have space to focus what brings you joy.
