Spa Treatments You Can Treat Yourself to at Home
We all wish we could afford to get spa treatments several times a month. Unfortunately for most of us it is a luxury we cannot afford. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself and your body to some well deserved treatments in the comfort of your own home. First of all it is good to remember that a treatment doesn’t have to be complicated or long, but to fully feel the effect of the treatments, having time to do them is of the essence. So, first check point on your treatment list; clear some time in your schedule. Secondly you should create the right ambience. Light some candles, put on some music, clear all the clutter, and place yourself in the room you want to be in. Often the bathroom can be a suitable place if you have a bathtub. Thirdly you have to decide what you want to treat. Here are some tips to what you can do at home.
Treat your feet
Give your feet what they deserve, and put them in a lovely foot soak. Buy some cheap (or expensive, your choice) foot products to use at home, a file or pumice stone and a good lotion. Soak your feet for about 15 minutes, make sure the water is warm. Use a foot scrub to exfoliate your feet and then go over them with the foot file or pumice stone. Cut your toenails, push back the cuticles and moisturise your feet. Apply nail varnish. Use a bold colour; everyone can pull off bright colours on their toes. It looks fresh and it makes you feel prettier.
Hair masks
If you want to give your hair that little extra, why not treat yourself to a homemade hair mask. Of course you can skip the make-your- own part and buy one. It can still be done at home. But for those of you who haven’t got the time to dash to the shops there are some good ones you can make yourself. Here is an example:
1 ripe avocado
1 tablespoon of honey
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Mix it all together until creamy, apply to hair and leave it in for approximately 20 minutes before washing it out with a gentle shampoo.
Facial masks
Give your skin a new lease of life by applying a mask. You can make a little more out of it by rinsing your skin first and finishing with a gentle massage. A real easy one to make at home is a simple honey and yoghurt mask.
1 tablespoon of honey
1tablespoon of yoghurt
Mix it together and apply to a damp, clean face. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Simple and effective!
Bath and beyond
A simple bath can be soothing enough! Make sure you have some candles in the bathroom, maybe some music you find calming, fresh towels and something lovely to put in the bath. Whatever you choose to use, a long soak can do wonders for body and soul. And it can be the start or the finish to your little spa day. If you don’t have a bath, a shower isn’t exactly the same, but it can be nice just to clear your mind (and leftover hair mask etc.).
Wax on wax off
Not the most soothing of all treatments, but it makes us feel prettier after. Try waxing your legs at home instead of getting it done elsewhere. There are a several kits for waxing at home, so invest in one of those and use an aloe based gel with some cucumbers and teabags to cool down after the deed is done.
These are only a few things to get you started, but remember that time is still the most important ingredient you need. Make sure you find time to treat yourself, if you are happy you can make others happy!
