Self-Doubt? Here’s What You Should Remind Yourself About

Self-doubt? We all experience it. There are challenges that we go through in life which really make us doubt ourselves. Here are some things you need to remind yourself about whenever you feel like doubting yourself:

There is less self-doubt when there is more self-love.

The biggest enemy of self-doubt is self-love. Being kind, gentle and loving towards yourself is all you need to drive away those harsh criticisms that eventually lead to lower self-esteem. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It is easy to feel stupid for not achieving your goal and getting the result you want. But you have to remind yourself that mistakes and failures are inevitable. They are part of life. Nobody’s perfect.

Your failures don’t define you.

Failing at something doesn’t make you a loser. You only become one when you quit. It is your action and determination to reach your goals and unleash your potential that define you. If you always identify yourself with your mistakes and failures, you will simply end up doubting your ability.

Failures make you stronger.

Remember the first time you failed? It probably felt like it was the end of the world for you. No. It’s not. Failures, as what many successful people have experienced, can lead you to your dreams. Think about Steve Jobs who was ousted from his own company. Think about Oprah Winfrey who was fired from her first anchor job for being ‘too emotionally invested’ in her stories. Think about Thomas Edison whose was called ‘too stupid’ by his teachers to learn anything. It’s rare to find a success story that doesn’t have its fair share of failure. So don’t feel discouraged whenever you commit mistake. You must instead be thankful whenever you fail. That’s because failures make you stronger.

Self-doubt often comes from fear and lack of inner-self connection.

Whenever we feel afraid, insecure and disconnected from our inner self, that’s the time we doubt ourselves the most. It is important to tap into your inner self, resolve your personal issues and trust yourself more. Establish a growth mindset - one that sees failure as opportunities for growth. Try to stay positive in all kinds of situation. It can do wonders to your confidence level.

It’s not about what others think.

In moments of self-doubt, we lose focus on ourselves. Rather, we give more attention to other people - what they think about us. But it is important to remind yourself that at the end of the day, it’s not about them. It’s about you. They can say and think whatever they want to say and think about you. No one can put you down but yourself. You don’t need confirmation from anyone. You only need confirmation from your heart.
