Honey

Salt Water
Researchers from University of Connecticut found that gargling with warm salt water can help soothe a sore throat and break down secretions. Not only that. Salt water also helps kill bacteria in the throat that cause inflammation.
Peppermint
According to the University of Maryland Medical Centre, the menthol in peppermint helps thin mucus and calm sore throats and coughs. Meanwhile, researchers from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Israel found that a combination of five herbs, which include peppermint, is effective in easing sore throat.
Slippery Elm
This plant is a popular traditional remedy for sore throat. Slippery elm contains a mucus-like substance which when mixed with water, forms a slick gel that coats and soothes sore throat. To use, infuse powdered bark in boiling water, stir, and drink.
Sage and Echinacea
In a randomised double-blind trial carried out by Switzerland researchers, it was found that Echinacea sage spray was just as effective as the medicinal spray for treating sore throats.
Tea
A cup of warm herbal tea offers immediate, soothing relief from sore throat. And since they contain high levels of antioxidants, tea helps strengthen immunity and ward off infection. Try chamomile tea or eucalyptus tea that is not only healing but very relaxing.
Chicken Soup
