Bacterial infections are very common not just in children but also in adults of all ages. As various types of bacteria could affect one or more parts of the body at a time, the discomfort can be so much debilitating.

Bacterial infections are usually treated with antibiotics. But there are several natural remedies that can be as effective as these over-the-counter drugs. Not only are they scientifically proven to fight different types of infection, they are also generally considered safe.

Aloe Vera

You might think that Aloe Vera is just for your hair. But it also has several amazing healing properties. In fact, Aloe Vera is considered an anti-inflammatory agent. It also has cooling properties, which make it a good remedy for soothing bacterial skin infections. Aloe gel can be applied directly on the affected area.

Turmeric

Turmeric is known for its amazing health benefits and healing properties. It is linked to many health wonders, including cancer prevention. And apart from being rich in antioxidants, turmeric also has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Freshly ground turmeric can be applied on the skin to reduce bacterial infection. It can also be consumed with water or warm milk for respiratory infection.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is good at treating antiviral and antibacterial infections, as well as vaginal infections that are caused by bacteria. It can be applied on the skin, but must be diluted properly as it is very strong and could skin burn. Since tea tree oil is very potent, it can be used to treat and control chronic infections.

Ginger

Ginger is good at treating respiratory and stomach infections caused by bacteria. It works by heating up the body and promoting blood circulation, which then reduces the activity of bacteria in the body. Drink ginger tea 3-4 times a day to treat respiratory infections. This herb is also used to alleviate pain.

Lemon

Lemon is another potent remedy against respiratory infections. It helps reduce the build-up of mucus inside the respiratory tract, which in turn remove bacteria.

Cranberry Juice

This delicious juice is great for treating vaginal and urinary tract infections, and can be safely consumed by pregnant women. Opt for fresh, not canned, cranberry juice as it contains less sugar and is more effective in sweeping bacteria away from the body.

Garlic

We love garlic for cooking. But it can be used for its medicinal purposes too. Garlic is considered one of the most powerful natural antibiotics in the world, and help fight bacterial and fungal infections. Garlic is effective in treating infections affecting the skin, respiratory, digestive and urinary tract.

Honey

The mild antiseptic properties in honey is great at treating infections affecting the skin and respiratory organs. Sweeten your ginger tea with a teaspoon of organic honey to sooth irritated throat due to cough. Honey can be used for inhalation and for opening up blocked nose.

Apple Cider Vinegar

The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of apple cider vinegar could help fight a host of bacterial infections in the body. It can be diluted and applied directly on the skin. For internal infection, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar can be diluted in a cup of water.
