Trying to lose weight fast? Did you know that certain foods have high thermogenic effect? Yes. And these foods burn more calories than you think. Adding them in your diet can have significant benefits on your weight loss journey.

Whole Grains

Whole grains have double the amount of fibre than plain starches. Instead of white breads and pastries, opt for whole wheat bread, oatmeal and brown rice. They are so delicious and feels heavy in your stomach, so you don’t feel hungry too much and too often.

Lentils

One cup of lentils contains 35% of your daily iron needs. So if you are iron deficient, it’s a perfect meal for you. Ensuring that your body gets sufficient dose of the said nutrient is important for your metabolism to work efficiently.

Hot Peppers

Making your food a little spicier can also help your body burn more calories. Chilli peppers contain a compound called capsaicin which has fat-burning effects. Sprinkle a little of cayenne powder on your omelette, soup or meat dish for that more flavourful and calorie-melting benefits!

Green Tea

Green tea contains a natural compound called EGCG, which speeds metabolism almost immediately. A study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who drank four cups of green tea everyday lost more than 6 pounds in 8 weeks.

Lean Meats

Meat, without the skin and fats on, has a very high thermogenic effect. Having some grilled lean chicken meat for lunch allows you to burn about 30 per cent of the calories during digestion.

Dairy Produce

Indulging in low-fat dairy products like cheese and milk helps supply your body with calcium and vitamin D - nutrients that help preserve and build muscle mass. This is important for maintaining healthy metabolism.

Eggs

Eggs are very filling. What’s more, they are great source of complete protein. Having eggs for breakfast is a great way to fill your body with energy needed to sustain the day, especially if you are working out. Opt for poached or boiled egg. If you want sunny side up, use healthier fats for frying, such as olive oil.

Avocado

This fruit may be fatty. But it’s bursting with none but good fats, particularly monounsaturated fats. It has oleic acid too - the compound that promotes feelings of fullness. This creamy fruit is also packed with fibre and protein.

Blueberries

One cup of fresh blueberries contain only 80 calories and has whopping 4 grams of fibre. In addition to its fat-burning effects, blueberries has anti-aging benefits too.

Broccoli

This superfood contains sulforaphane - a phytonutrient that stimulates an enzyme in the body that tells your fat cells to burn fats. Whether eaten raw or cooked, this cruciferous vegetable is known for its anti-cancer properties too. And who would have thought - it only has 30 calories per serving!

Red Wine

A good meal is best paired with a good wine. Red wine contains resveratrol - the compound in grape skin that has the ability to melt fats in our body. In fact, in one study, it was shown that moderate wine drinkers have narrower waists and less belly fat than liquor drinkers. Just a glass of red wine can boost your fat-burning abilities for as long as 90 minutes.

Try adding these foods in your diet and experience their fat-burning benefits!
