Benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

What are the advantages of using acupuncture for facial rejuvenation? There is no surgery required, and no recovery period. A facial acupuncture course involves one treatment a week for ten weeks then a top up treatment once every six months on average. The treatment takes about an hour and it is a very relaxing process. There are no foreign materials injected into the skin. The change is very gradual and colleagues, friends and family notice you are looking better but don’t necessarily know why unless you tell them.

What is Facial Acupuncture?

Fine acupuncture needles are inserted into the main muscles of the face. Even smaller intra dermal needles are inserted into wrinkles on the brow and round the mouth. The needles are left in for about twenty minutes and then removed.

How does it work?

The needles create a mini trauma to the skin and the body reacts by producing collagen.  Collagen gives firmness to muscles and hence the whole face lifts. It also promotes blood flow to the skin surface. The procedure is preceded and completed with an acupressure facial massage.

In addition to the facial procedure, acupuncture points on the body are used to tonify bodily processes, such as digestion which often contribute to swelling on the face. By restoring balance to our organs it can eliminate the root cause of some of the facial skin problems.

The Chinese have a long history of using this method to reduce wrinkles and stave off the ageing process. They like us, knew the importance of a healthy lifestyle so incorporated facial acupuncture with herbs, good diet and the practice of gentle exercise.

How much does it cost?

About the same or sometimes a little bit more than a standard Acupuncture treatment as it takes a bit longer and the needles are more expensive. Check with your local Acupuncturists and ask them to show you the needles and answer any questions you may have.
