6 Strategies for a Calming & Relaxing Weekend
TGIF! Just like most people out there, you probably feel really excited right now. After five days of working hard, you get to enjoy your favourite part of the week - the weekend!
But sometimes, weekend can be so stressful too. So here are strategies for a calming and relaxing weekend:
Spend quality time with friends and family.
Life becomes less stressful when you are surrounded by others, especially those you feel emotionally connected to. Set up a dinner party at home. Go out with your friends. Weekend is best spent with the people you love.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Nowadays, it is hard to be present in the moment as our days can be bombarded with so many tasks. Even our weekends can get busier. But there’s a quick and very effective remedy to calm your mind and body: breathe. Take a long, deep breath. Mindful breathing is a key tool towards a relaxing and calming day.
Get outdoors.
Since most of our workdays are usually spent indoors, the weekend is a perfect opportunity to get outdoors in daylight, enjoy fresh air, and get active. Not only do you get some vitamin D (from sunlight), studies show that spending time in nature also promotes our mental health.
Have a lazy day.
Don’t feel like doing anything? It’s fine. Make the weekend a day restore the balance within yourself and to train yourself to not be afraid of doing anything. Just let things be. Don’t feel guilty if you spent your whole Sunday snuggling or being couch potato. After all, you had worked so hard the entire workweek. You deserve it.
Allot time for yourself.
You may find yourself wanting to dedicate more of your time to friends and family over the weekend as you may not have enough time to connect with them during the workweek. But don’t forget to schedule time for yourself. Yes, just for yourself. Just as you need to reconnect with others, you also need to reconnect with yourself. Give yourself time to just be you - when you can just chill out, read a book, listen to music, and do pretty much anything you want.
Get sporty.
If you can squeeze in a little physical activity in your weekend, that would be totally awesome and beneficial to your health. It will also make you feel great the entire day! There are many forms of exercise and they include sports. Whether its basketball, swimming, cycling or volleyball you want - you can have so much fun while sweating out.
For you, what’s the best kind of weekend? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to post a comment below.
