5 Steps to a Happier Day

Life is all about making choices. Every day, we have a choice to be happy than to be sad, to smile than to cry, and to live life to the fullest than get stuck in the hurts of the past.

Sounds too hard to do? Here are five simple things you can start doing today to make every day a happy day:

Get physical.

A daily dose of exercise can keep you feeling good and energetic. When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins – the happy chemicals that instantly lift your mood and replenish your energy levels. You need not hit the gym every day to make it a daily ritual. There are exercises that you can do without leaving home. Search on YouTube – you will find lots of workout videos that don’t need any machine or equipment.

Start each day with gratefulness.

If you start your day thinking about the bad things that happened in your life, or your worries about the future, you are less likely to have a great, peaceful day. You need not always cite the huge accomplishments you had in life. By focusing on the basic things to be grateful for, you instantly help put yourself in a happy mood and prevent negativity.

Take care of your gut.

Just so you know, emerging research suggests that our gut health can influence our mental health. Part of having a great day is observing a healthy, balanced diet. Choose foods that nourish your body, especially your gut. They include fruits and vegetables, and whole foods. If you’re looking for a midday snack to perk you up, grab a medium-sized banana instead of ice cream, or a small portion of dark chocolate instead of cookies.

Do what brings you fun.

Many of us are too focused thinking about the happiness of others to that point that they forget to take care of themselves. Make it a daily habit to do something that makes you happy. Whether it’s reading a novel, baking, drawing, singing, dancing –your hobbies and interests can be a great source of happiness.

Choose to be happy.

This can be a difficult task but with the above tips, choosing happiness becomes easier for you. Furthermore, believe that you are deserving, capable of, and worthy of happiness. Love yourself for who you are. Accept your imperfections. Turn off the negative self-talk.And choose HAPPINESS.

No matter at what point in life you are right now. You can choose to be happy. By incorporating these simple tips in your day to day life, you will find that happiness – that something you have been searching for – is just around the corner.
