5 Simple Things Energetic People Do Differently
Do you constantly find yourself having so much to do yet very little time to do them? You are not alone. Most people is on the same page as yours. In today’s world, most of us are bombarded with so many to-do lists that even if we stretch our time to the max, we can’t just get them all done in one day.
And such busy lifestyle, unfortunately, is taking a huge toll on our health and well-being. More and more professionals report that their jobs are making them stressed and sick. But not all, of course. There are people who are able to manage their work and personal life well whilst still being productive, relaxed and most of all – happy.
Now you may ask – what does these people do differently? Whilst they only have 24 hours in a day as you do, these people are on a lead advantage because they have wonderful habits that make them feel rested, productive and energetic.
Here they are:
They prioritise sleep.
If you want your day to start and end right, you’ve got to give yourself a good night sleep. Well-rested people understand and appreciate the value of sleep in their health and well-being. They know that not having enough sleep can significantly affect their mood, energy levels and productivity the next day. As you sleep, your body goes through healing and recovery, warding off feelings of fatigue from a hard day’s work. It is important that you reach the REM stage, because it is the most important stage of sleep. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep. Sticking on a regular sleep and wakeup time is a great way to improve your sleep cycles.
They hate using the ‘snooze’ button.
You might think that setting your alarm clock ahead of your usual wakeup time is a smart idea to get some more sleep without getting behind your schedule. But research shows it can actually make you feel more tired throughout the day. That’s because the few minutes of sleep after the snooze is no longer quality sleep, but disrupted sleep. Set your alarm at a later time and commit to getting up the moment it rings. You would feel better this way.
They work out.
It is part of a well-rested person’s routine to exercise. Physical activity is a great way to lift your mood and energy levels, so you feel better the whole day. Some people find it better to work out in the morning. But if your work schedule is an issue, consider doing it in the afternoon, at least a few hours before bedtime. People who exercise regularly tend to have more restful sleep.
They don’t smoke or rely on a nightcap.
If you ever want to feel more relaxed than ever, don’t smoke or quit if you do. Some people think that smoking calms them down. But that’s just a temporary effect of cigarettes. In the long run, it increases the amount of stress hormones in your body, which does not only make you feel burned out, but also puts you at risk of many health problems. When you smoke, you deprive your body of oxygen, which is essential for blood circulation, making you feel more tired and groggy. Further, well-rested people do not rely on a few glasses of wine or alcohol just to fall asleep. Sure, these beverages can make you feel tired and relaxed in a few moments, but they can interrupt the REM sleep.
They don’t make delays a big deal.
So you are 15 minutes behind schedule? So what? The more you fret about it, the more time you are going to lose. Plus, you will feel restless, agitated and irritated. Sometimes, delays and other unwanted things can happen. But that’s normal. So you really don’t have to make a big deal out of them. Instead of using up all your energy thinking about the issue, why not divert it to making a better resolution?
Relaxation is achievable no matter how busy your day is. If you make it a top priority, and you incorporate these positive habits in your daily life, you can be productive without feeling burned out.
