5 Negative Behaviours that Hold You Back from Succeeding
Success – it’s something that we all want – something that we all work hard for. Something that we wish we could have so easily. But just like all the good things. Success doesn’t come in a snap. Before we can reach it, we are bound to face tons of challenges and difficulties. It may take many, many years before we get a taste of it.
Still, the hard work and long wait are all so worth it. What’s more, we can actually increase the chances of succeeding soon by getting rid of the following negative behaviours:
Complaining
Do you know of a person who always complains about his or her job or constantly rants about every little thing? Complaining is not always helpful, because it makes you stick to the negative side. It makes every effort you do so dragging and demotivating. It keeps your enthusiasm low. So if you keep complaining about why you are assigned to such mediocre project or why you are not being promoted when you know you are more than capable, your performance gets affected. And then you suffer the consequences.
Blaming Others
People who always blame others for the bad things that happen to their lives are usually those who are too afraid to face their own flaws and admit their weaknesses. There’s nothing wrong about having weaknesses – everyone has it. Even the most successful people do have flaws. It’s what we do about those imperfections that matter. Avoid focusing on other people’s mistakes. Rather, focus on yours. Identify your strengths and weaknesses, and work on those you can improve. Don’t be afraid to fail – that’s where learning starts. The more you learn, the more you know – the more you become successful.
Being Negative
If you come into work with a raincloud over your head each morning, it’s not surprising you haven’t moved up in your company. Negative thinking greatly affects your behaviour, which in turn affects your performance. If you want to succeed, you need to adopt a more positive way of seeing things. By doing so, you can easily stand up each time you fall, uncover the insight behind every failure and mistake, and gain the courage to keep moving forward.
Being Disorganised
Being disorganised wastes your time and effort, and affects your entire performance. Disorganisation can cause many setbacks, including not knowing what to do next, poor time management, and eventually accomplishing less than you could have if you were organised.
Being Perfectionist
There’s nothing wrong with striving for excellence. Perfectionism is time-wasting and money-losing, and most of all – energy-sapping. Instead of making things easier, it only doubles the time you have to spend reaching your dreams. The problem is that perfection is impossible. Therefore, continuously striving for it can stall you and keep you from making progress on your goals and benefiting from the results.
